Michael was appointed Director of the Welsh Assembly Government's Broadband Wales Unit in September 2003. He is responsible for the multi-million, programme, launched in July 2002 to help
achieve a competitive and sustainable broadband infrastructure across Wales. Michael leads a multi-disciplinary team, tasked with ensuring that the broadband infrastructure in Wales is significantly
enhanced by March 2007, to underpin both business competitiveness and social inclusion strategies. He is also responsible for Public Sector broadband aggregation activities in Wales. From July 2005 Michael's responsibilities were extended to include leading a team tasked with strengthening and developing the Wales' ICT strategy within the portfolio of the Minister for Economic
Development and Transport. Michael has over 20 years experience in the international telecommunications and high technology industries and has held positions in Research & Development, Product Management, Marketing
and Business Management for BT, Atlantic Network Systems, Newbridge Networks, Ubiquity Software Corporation and SurfKitchen Inc.
