NEW GRANT SCHEME IN WALES 
From 1 April 2002, SMEs investing in Wales will be able to benefit from a new grant scheme from the Welsh Assembly. The 'Assembly Investment Grant' will provide grants of between £5001
and £50000 pounds to businesses investing or creating jobs in Wales. The 'Assembly Investment Grant' forms part of a simplified package of support that will soon be available, co-ordinated by
the Welsh Assembly, the Welsh Development Agency (WDA), ELWa and the Welsh Local Government Association. First Minister, Rhodri Morgan, said, "This is a major step forwards in simplifying
and integrating business support schemes in Wales, with the aim of ensuring that Welsh enterprises have the best business support environment that we can provide."

Wales Tourist Board 
WTB can provide financial assistance for capital projects. Eligible tourism businesses include hotels, self-catering apartments/cottages, restaurants, caravan and camping parks, attractions and
activity centres. WTB can also assist projects that improve the tourism infrastructure of the locality.
HELP Wales 
Helps companies improve efficiency, develop new products and explore new market potential. From product design to process innovation, and web design to developing a marketing plan. Grants for
up to 50% of the total cost of the project. The maximum value grant available is £10,000. Available to all SMEs in the objective 1, 2 and transitional areas of Wales.
International Trade Fund 
WalesTrade International offer grants to help small and medium sized companies to develop business overseas through the recently launched International Trade Fund. The Fund provides up to 50%
towards the implementation cost of an export marketing activity, up to a maximum grant of £4000 in any 12-month period. Examples of eligibility include export marketing research and consultancy,
overseas travel and initial business visits, and overseas promotional activities.
Regional Selective Assistance 
A discretionary grant from the National Assembly for Wales for businesses making capital investments that would create or safeguard jobs in the Assisted Areas of Wales.
Welsh European Funding Office 
This is the place to start to find out about European funding such as Objective One. WEFO was set up as an executive agency of the National Assembly for Wales to manage all aspects of
European Structural Fund Programmes in Wales, the Rural Development Plan and the Local Regeneration Fund. Information on all approved projects, the latest news, and a good set of links to other
relevant websites.
