Enterprise mobility a 'top investment priority' for businesses

In 2008, enterprise mobility will remain one of the top investment priorities among most global organisations, a new survey has revealed.

Questioning 4,654 respondents, research group Aberdeen learned that there has been a 7.6 per cent year-on-year increase in planned enterprise mobility spending.

The survey revealed that businesses consider mobility on of the top three technologies that will impact their organisations in the next five years, with responses suggesting that the use of mobile devices could improve operational efficiencies and foster greater collaboration.

According to Aberdeen, mobility is now so essential to the global organisations that many are building policy, staff and training capabilities to ensure that they have a sound mobile strategy in place.

Some 69 per cent admitted they will leverage high-speed mobile data services to enable mobile connectivity and subsequent increases in workplace productivity.

Speaking at the Interop Las Vegas 2008 conference, Motorola recently suggested the age of mobility is upon us. In the face of the growing costs associated with traditional wired networks, it urged organisations to begin working towards all-wireless enterprise, ChannelWeb reports.
