Call for government to listen to small business
The government 'is not offering enough support' to small businesses in Britain, according to Dan Martin, editor of Business
Zone.
Only five per cent of new small company owners in Wales and the rest of the UK consult the governments flagship SME support service Business Link (Business Eye in Wales), it was revealed in a survey by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reforms which was cited by Mr Martin.
This survey also showed that 16 per cent of these company owners turn to the bank for guidance.
Tony Robinson OBE, founder of SME support standards setting body SFEDI, has suggested that successful entrepreneurs inspire budding businessmen.
Mr Robinson said: "The government should engage and enable the business clubs, enterprise agencies, forums and accountants who are already trusted by small businesses."
Business Link's Business Support Simplification Programme is currently working in conjunction with the government and small businesses to restructure publicly funded business support schemes
which will facilitate more simple access to support for these companies.
