Green initiatives 'impacting' organisations

A survey of over 4,500 respondents from leading organisations around the world has revealed that enterprises are seeing the emergence of 'green initiatives' at a faster rate than ever before, driven by social, ecological and environmental factors.

According to research company Aberdeen, 47 per cent of the companies surveyed revealed that they have green initiatives already in place, with 74 per cent of these firms citing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as the main driver.

Other pressures compelling organisations to implement green initiatives included competitive advantage (cited by 52 per cent of companies), business costs (31 per cent), regulatory compliance (24 per cent) and power usage restrictions (10 per cent).

Aberdeen explained that green initiatives provide organisations with a road to technological sustainability and to a more competitive position in the global market, noting that companies are finding new and innovative ways to implement these schemes, such as green server architecture.

Overall, the analyst found green initiatives to rank in the top eight corporate strategic goals for organisations this year.
