Tatara launches converged VoIP

Tatara Systems, a leader in mobile convergence, has unveiled its new "one number" Converged Mobile VoIP solution.

This allows a customer to access VoIP services across any IP network, and using a range of converged devices, initially laptops, using just one mobile phone number.

Following market trials, the new laptop launch builds on Tatara's previous offering, the Converged Mobile Messaging solution, helping boost business and retain customers in today's competitive marketplace.

To this end, it makes use of a number of the features of the firm's Mobile Services Convergence Platform, including intelligent network authentication, firewall traversal and technology for billing system integration. It also provides a historical record of voice calls made.

Steve Nicolle, CEO and president of Tatara, said: "Mobile operators are now seeing significant subscriber adoption of their laptop-based 3G/Wi-Fi mobile office service by their most valuable customer segments.

"Our solution allows them to utilise the advantage they have over standalone VoIP providers by delivering a consistent and converged set of voice and data services under one brand across the end-user's two most significant devices - their handset and their laptop."
