Civic Hacking: A Practical Guide To Re-using Public Sector Information
Tuesday July 3rd 2007
6.00pm - 8.00pm
(Doors open 5.30pm for a light buffet and refreshments)
Technium CAST
Parc Menai, Bangor
Guest speaker : Ben Campbell, Freelance Programmer
The talk will present some case study Civic Hacking web sites which make it much easier for people to participate in local and central Government activities. From helping you to write to your elected
representatives, through finding people to pitch in and clean up your local park, to keeping tabs on what journalists are writing about, innovative examples of civic hacking are springing up all over the
internet.
Some of the tools and technology used to implement these case study sites will be touched on, along with aspects of the organisation and management. In particular, how small bands of motivated
people can often be spectacularly innovative and productive.
