Information Security: Protecting your business

Tuesday 3rd April 2007
6.00pm - 8.00pm
(Doors open 5.30pm for a light buffet and refreshments)

Technium CAST
Parc Menai, Bangor

Guest speaker: Andy Harbach

It is essential that businesses and individuals keep up to date with security threats related to developments in technology. Andy Harbach of Snowdonia IT Services considers some of the findings of the Information Security Breaches Survey of 2006 and highlights preventative measures such as policy development.

One of the most significant developments this year has been the release of Windows Vista. Andy will review some of the major security features of Windows Vista and will then briefly examine how to protect a Linux server and a secure network topology based around a Linux firewall.

About the speaker:
Andy graduated from Bangor University with a MEng in Computer Systems engineering in July 2000. He went on to the Teaching Company Scheme where he developed a fraud control system for SecureTrading, a major provider of on-line credit card transactions. Andy then worked in Development and Operations at SecureTrading where he became responsible for Information Security and guiding the Company through the Visa Account Information Security scheme. In September 2004 Andy established Snowdonia IT Services. The Company provides a web application and e-commerce application development service, and also specialised in Linux server administration including elements of Information Security and system monitoring.

Andy can be contacted through his website www.snowdoniait.com
