By Basheera Khan

Business for Business is a Swansea-based e-marketing specialist, providing solutions and strategies for the small and medium sized enterprise sector. The company's owner and principle consultant, Nigel T Packer, established its current offices in Mansel Street in 2002 following market research which identified a gap in the market for search engine optimisation of business websites.

To date, Business for Business has assisted over fifty companies with their Internet marketing. They have in turn generated over £2.5 million of orders and over £10 million worth of order enquiries from the global market. Packer comments, "Our clients are currently number one in mainstream search engines such as Google."

Search engine optimisation - Our experience of the Internet and knowledge of search engine optimisation will give you the best chance of being ahead of your competitors.

Search engine registration - If search engines can't find you they will not show you in their listings. Business for Business has successfully put its clients on the front page of the most popular search engines in the UK and globally.

Choose the essential keywords that your potential customers and clients type into a search field to find your services and the search engine they use. E-mail promotion - Business for Business prepares and sends compliant e-mail promotion messages to clients' current customer lists and potential customers without infringing spam laws.

Implementation - Most business do not have the time to implement the advice in the reports supplied by advisors or consultants. Business for Business can effectively implement strategies and tasks.

Training - If a company has a member of staff who is competent on the Internet we can train and enable them in the essential skills of website promotion and Internet marketing. They can then carry on the job of promoting the company's website.

ITW: What's unique or outstanding about the services you provide?

NTP: We do not design and build websites and remain detached from the vagaries of the creative and the technical. We look at the website from a customer's perspective, giving objective advice to our clients. Our record is our standard, providing independent advice, consultancy and training. Levelling the playing field in the global business market.

ITW: Where do you see your company going in the future?

NTP: The Internet provides the most effective and economical method of promoting a businesses products and services. This is being recognised around the world and for a company to develop and to capitalise on the global economy they have to address the weakness of the websites they currently have. The situation is improving through the Opportunity Wales programme, however there is a long way to go if Welsh businesses are to achieve a larger share of the global market.

The Internet is not going away and if it is not utilised correctly then Wales will continue to be in a catch up situation chasing UK average numbers.

At Business for Business we see a large market growth in website development and optimisation; our plans are to increase the number of consultants in our group and continue to provide the essential skills for Welsh and UK business to take full advantage of the Internet for promoting their products and services.

ITW: What one piece of technology has benefited your company the most?

NTP: Broadband. This has brought speed and efficiency to our activities reducing the time it takes for us to carry out research and provide solutions to our clients.

ITW: What one piece of advice would you give to start up companies in your field?

NTP: Talk to people in the field and find out what they have done to get where they are. Get in touch with us!

ITW: What's been the key to your success?

NTP: Business networking, listening to the customer, long hours, having a passion for the work and a determination to succeed.
